The Data Governance Program offers training on Roles and Responsibilities.

Benefits of Data Governance

Data governance formalizes and applies best practices to work already being done so that this knowledge can be shared, standardized, and leveraged. Some of these benefits include,

  • Establishing and maintaining:
    • a cross-functional approach to data management decision-making.
    • a common set of Data Governance policies, practices, and processes to define and maintain common data definitions, master data, metadata, business rules, and data integrity through the data lifecycle.
    • a common and standardized data definition framework (Business Glossary and Data Dictionary / Catalog).
    • a standard and reusable set of project deliverables that are utilized to ensure a structured approach and that deliver quality results for solution delivery.
  • Championing the development and implementation of data management solutions required to meet the information needs across the university.
  • Driving towards simplification of university activities and metadata management processes.
  • Carrying out data governance tasks towards meeting the data management direction provided by UCF leadership.
