Alongside UCF’s transition to Workday, which will manage the operational business functions of the university, DARE is a Knight Vision project to implement a new cloud enterprise data warehouse and reporting environment commissioned for development. This new environment will sit alongside and work in conjunction with Workday to allow for enhanced reporting, advanced analytics, and deeper data access that is outside the scope of Workday, including:
- Third-party data sources that do not reside in Workday
- Historical PeopleSoft data that will not be transitioned into Workday
- Big data storage manipulation and sophisticated analytics such as machine learning that cannot be performed in Workday.
The DARE environment will be powered by Microsoft Azure Cloud Services and will contain the capabilities for advanced big data storage, enhanced data manipulation, and the ability to perform other detailed analytics across the institution (Finance, HR, Research, Student, etc.) as needed. DARE will be able to contain and provide access to data beyond Workday and architected for modern reporting and analytics.

Phase 2 is currently active and will integrate system and data sources needed for crucial university initiatives or projects into the DARE warehouse.

Phase 3 – Reporting and Analytics
Phase 3 will identify and build the pipelines and processes to support large-scale usage of modern reporting and analytics, including integrating tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and other reporting platforms.
Phase 1 – Initial Implementation COMPLETE
The initial rollout of the system and architecture to support future activities was completed on June 30, 2022.
