A new article published in Innovative Higher Education highlights UCF’s innovative approach to tracking student participation in High-Impact Practices (HIPs), including undergraduate research, study abroad, experiential learning, learning communities, capstones, and HIP-designated courses.
Using five years of data (2019–2024), researchers examined nearly 88,000 students involved in 200,000+ HIP experiences. The authors conclude that centralized HIP tracking and interactive dashboards provide valuable insights for tracking student success and supporting data-informed decision-making. The model offers a scalable framework that can be adapted by other institutions seeking to expand access to impactful learning experiences.
