Established in 2013, the Florida Preeminence Program awards additional funding to institutions that are deemed preeminent. Preeminent status is reached if a university meets twelve of the thirteen preeminent metric goals. Emerging preeminence status is reached when seven of the thirteen goals are reached.
UCF has reached the twelve metrics required to earn the designation of Preeminent State Research University pending the Florida Board of Governors approval vote in June 2026. Qualifying for the state’s highest designation highlights UCF’s achievements in student success, research and more — and the talents and hard work of so many in the UCF community who made this happen.
